Got The Picture HereMy sister and I went to the Mall yesterday to get her a new pair of glasses. and while waiting for the glasses, we've decided to eat first since we haven't eaten anything for the whole day. i went on to play tennis without eating breakfast while she..slept through the whole morning. haha. and so i therefore conclude that we were hungry.
moving on.
While we were eating, a young boy named Clark approached us and he asked if he could have some food and my sister, being the philanthropist that she is, willingly gave him some of her food while i gave him my dessert. my sister let him seat on our table so my sister asked some questions.
my sister asked him questions like what's your name?,how old was he, what was he doing here, where are your parents and where do you live.
he politely answered that his name was Clark,11years old, he was looking for a job because his parents couldn't, his father just got out of the hospital and his mom was taking care of him...my sister then replied, at 11 years old?! what job could you possibly get?
"I've worked on construction before, i used to bring sacks of sand and stone and other construction materials"
and how much did you get paid?
"About 300 pesos..."
and i remembered how much the food we were eating was...about 300 pesos...
and i bet you know how i felt.
after this he told us that he lived in some place called "annex"
the place sounded familiar to me but i wasn't exactly sure where it was..or if it's just a term used to describe someplace..
he told us that it was far and it was hard to get there.
at his point i knew that he was also asking for some money but dude, it was just too much, i mean, we already gave him food(and i tell you the food was good). And asking for money is i think too much.
what hit me was that he still had to ask for money? after we gave him food, he still had the courage to ask for money..,boy it was disturbing.
i mean i know that here in the Philippines the vast majority of the population belongs to the....less fortunate. and our family, through the hard work of my parents, belongs to the..hmm. how should i put it.. "financially blessed"
but,argh! i dunno.the situation got so confusing.
i don't wanna generalize but was it just him? or do all less fortunate people think that since they have to money and they're poor they could just get what they want if they asked for it?!..
i know I'm creating a pretty big argument here but..i don't know, the whole situation was just so confusing and contradicting at the same time that i couldn't think right anymore.
he did not exactly ask for money but he kept on bringing up that he lived in annex and that it was hard to get there and it was an underlying message that he wanted money.
and so.
i stare.
goodbye,:D
p.s. I'm still a pretty awesome teen!!:D
